Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
